Know the Facts About Circumcision

What Is Your Baby's Experience?

Circumcision is a clamping and cutting of the foreskin of the penis. It is a surgical procedure that has been proven to be extremely painful, and usually performed without a parent to comfort the child. According to the American Pediatric Association, it is a medically unnecessary procedure, as numerous studies have found no connection to circumcision and improved health. The foreskin is a working tissue that does perform a job in the human body. Some parents choose circumcision for religious, cultural or other personal reasons, though many of those traditions of genital mutilation are also in question, as they are not all consistent with the historical practices.

We strongly urge parents to educate themselves and hope that you will all understand the facts about circumcision prior to making a decision. Afterall, every baby deserves to feel that this new world is a loving place to be, not a world full of pain. If you are planning to create a gentle birth experience for your baby, then it is wonderful when that same philosphy carries over beyond birth.
